Japanese transit service

I was on the plane to New York for a business trip and I has to transit over at Narita airport in Japan. For some apparent reason, I could not secure an earlier flight to New York and I ended up having to wait about 24 hours for my flight instead of the usual 5 hours which I was supposed to have.
